Apple Store

Tuesday, December 14th, 2004

The first thing I ever bought on the Internet was a CD from CDNow in 1995 almost 10 years ago and the CD arrived the next day delivered nice and early. Two weeks ago I bought an iPod mini from the Apple Store which advertises ‘dispatched: Within 24hrs’. Well it’s now 8 working days later and after numerous phone calls to Apple Store, their ‘logistics’ company and the logistics company depot they think they will be able to deliver it on Thursday, that’s 10 working days later. They tried to deliver it today, actually, the delivery driver couldn’t find my office, it’s one of biggest building in the town, with a huge banner proclaiming the company name which the item is addressed to. Not only did the driver have my address, company name and post code (s)he also had my mobile number. When the driver couldn’t find the largest, illuminated signed, building in town he didn’t think to give me a call, no he just gave up.

To be fair the Apple Store has been very helpful and the logistics companies call center staff suitably embarassed and appologetic but at the end of the day it’s still not good enough. I definitely won’t be buying anything from Apple’s online store again and I don’t think I’m going to buy anything on the Internet again without good reason.
